How much does a hair transplant cost in Thailand?
At Dr. Top, a procedure starts from ฿110,000, and most cases land between ฿110,000 and ฿150,000 depending on your graft count, the technique, and whether the work runs over one session or two. Across Thailand more broadly, surgeon-performed FUE or DHI typically runs about ฿80,000–฿195,000. Budget clinics that put technicians rather than doctors on the case advertise ฿30,000–฿65,000, but the quality and outcome risks are significantly higher. Per-graft pricing at quality clinics is usually ฿65–฿90. Your plan gives you the figure for your own case rather than a range.
How many grafts will I need?
Most patients need between 1,500 and 3,500 grafts. A Norwood 3 hairline recession typically requires around 2,000 grafts; Norwood 4 to 5 diffuse thinning often needs 2,500 to 3,500 or more. The only accurate way to know your own number is a consultation with an experienced surgeon. Photo assessments are a useful starting point, but donor density, hair calibre and scalp laxity all affect the final count.
Is the procedure painful?
In our experience, patients typically rate the procedure around 2 out of 10 for discomfort. Local anesthesia is used throughout, and the majority of patients find it far more comfortable than they anticipated.
How long does it take to see results from FUE or DHI?
Both methods follow a similar growth timeline. Early visible improvement typically appears around the six-month mark, with the full maturation of transplanted hair usually reaching its best appearance at around twelve months after the procedure.
Can you get too many grafts transplanted?
Yes, and this is a real concern. Overharvesting the donor area beyond its safe capacity can thin it visibly, reduce graft survival, and limit your options for future sessions. A responsible surgeon will always plan within the limits of what your donor area can safely provide, both now and down the line. More grafts aren’t always better; the right number of grafts is always better.
Can I get a second transplant if I need more coverage later?
Yes, a second transplant is possible, but it depends on how much healthy donor hair remains after the first procedure. That is another reason to plan the first session carefully, so you keep enough donor hair for later.
